Why Acadiana is hard on septic

A high water table

Saturated soil cannot absorb what the field sends it. After a wet stretch a marginal field stops working, which is why so many failures show up right after rain.

Clay does not drain

Heavy clay soil takes water slowly at the best of times, so fields here are less forgiving of a tank that has gone too long between pumpings.

Aerobic systems need attention

Louisiana requires maintenance on aerobic systems, and they have moving parts: an air pump, diffusers, a chlorinator and an alarm. Yes, we service them.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

Our standing recommendation for Acadiana is every 3 years. Household size and what goes down the drain move it a little, but 3 years is the number we tell our own customers.

What does pumping cost?

It depends on tank size and access, which is why we price it in person. If the lid is buried and needs a riser, we price that before we dig.

Do you service aerobic systems?

Yes. Louisiana requires aerobic systems to be maintained, and they have real components that wear: the air pump, the diffusers, the chlorinator and the alarm. We service all of it.

My alarm is going off. Is that an emergency?

Treat it as urgent. The alarm exists to warn you before wastewater reaches the yard or the house. Reduce water use and call us the same day.

Can a drain field be saved?

Sometimes, if we get to it before solids have fully clogged it. That is the honest argument for pumping on schedule: a pumping bill is a fraction of a field replacement.
